Driver punished for hitting an intoxicated jaywalker in Łódź

An intoxicated pedestrian crossed the street on a red light and was struck by a car. The drunk man survived and escaped punishment but the driver of the vehicle was not so fortunate. He was found liable for the accident, as it was determined that he was speeding at the time.

Mayors of biggest Polish cities backed protesting teachers

Teachers are preparing for a nationwide protest. Although the referendum which is to decide if the strike will take place in April is still ongoing, mobilisation is growing. Also growing is support for the educators' demands. On Tuesday, teachers received backing from mayor of the largest Polish cities.

Dangerous accidents on quads. A 9-year-old in critical condition

Two dangerous accidents involving young drivers on quads. One of them took place in Lower Silesia, the other one in Ratułów near Nowy Targ. The latter accident involved a 9-year-old who drove his ATV right into a car. He did not have a license, nor was he wearing a helmet. Doctors are now fighting to save his life.

Strike is coming? Still no agreement between the government and the teachers

Teachers are getting more and more frustrated and nervous. For weeks the government has not met with representatives of the Polish Teachers' Union, nor has it offered a solution to alleviate the conflict. There was an off-the-cuff statement by the head of the union in which he mentioned the possibility of not advancing students to the next grade. In the end, he apologised for his words, but he emphasises that he was trying to sober up those who govern.
