Senate to proceed over anti-crisis bill. Coronavirus cases near 2000

So far in Poland 16 people have died after being infected with SARS-CoV-2, health ministry informed on Thursday (March 26) evening. The number of confirmed infections has gone up to 1.221. The government maintains the May 10 presidential election will not be postponed. The lower house passed regulations allowing the chamber's sessions to be carried out online. The draft law referred to as "Anti-crisis shield", finalised by the government, has been sent to the Sejm.

Health minister reassures hospitals are ready to handle the inevitable, yet foreseeable surge in the number of new infections. Poles should work from home due to the coronavirus outbreak - the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff Michał Dworczyk said on Thursday.
