The police in Pajęczno (Łódzkie voivodeship) have detained a 49-year-old man who, while intoxicated, drove into the town in a T-55 tank. He is facing two years in prison for driving under influence and even up to 8 years for creating risk of road traffic disaster.

Ten-year-old girl murdered in southwest Poland. Police are looking for suspects

Body of a 10-year-old girl was found on Thursday in a forest, some 6 kilometres from Mrowiny (Lower Silesian voivodeship). The child has been murdered; the police call upon the residents to provide any information that may lead to the perpetrator. The autopsy revealed that several puncture wounds to the chest and neck led to the girl's death. "These wounds were numerous; this was a crime of sexual nature," said prosecutor Marek Rusin.

Polish parliament passes bill securing pay rise for teachers

In September this year, teachers will receive pay rises; the average pay for teachers will increase by 9,6 percent - the Sejm decided by approving amendments to the so-called Teachers Charter bill. Heat caused tram rail to bend and pop out of the ground in Bydgoszcz

The video recorded by a camera from a car that stood on Jagiellońska street in Bydgoszcz shows that one second was enough for the tracks to become impassable. High temperature was the reason behind this rare indicent. The ground could have been as hot as 40 degrees.
