Changes in the Polish government. President Duda appoints new ministers

President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday appointed the new ministers in Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki's cabinet. Jacek Sasin was appointed deputy prime pinister, Elżbieta Witek - the interior minister, Marian Banaś - the minister of finance, Bożena Borys-Szopa - the family, labour and social affairs minister and Dariusz Piontkowski - the minister of education.

Mayor of Gdańsk tried to invite PM Morawiecki. Security detail wouldn't let her through

The mayor of Gdańsk tried to personally invite Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to the Round Table talks but the PM's security detail wouldn't let her through. The head of the government also didn't respond to the invitation letter sent by mayor Aleksandra Dulkiewicz. The observances of the 30th anniversary of the July 4 elections organised by the local authorities will not be attended by the Law and Justice government.

Court: 25 years in prison for brutal killing of 28-year-old Jacek Hryć

Dawid K. has been sentenced for 25 years in prison for the murder of Jacek Hryć. His shoe trace was left on the victim's face. He was the only one to admit to the beating, although his attorney attempted to prove that Hryć's death did not result from the sustained blows. Four friends of Dawid K. have been sentenced for 8 years each. Jacek Hryć was 28 years old when he was killed on the street because of "some sort of misinterpreted behaviour, glance, word".

Government spokesperson: cabinet reshuffle on 10.30 am on Tuesday

The motion regarding the the cabinet reshuffle has been sent to President Andrzej Duda. The ceremony of appointing new ministers will be held on Tuesday, 10.30 am in the Presidential Palace - the spokesperson for the government Joanna Kopcińska told Polish Press Agency (PAP) on Monday.

Van driver ran over a dog and recorded it on his phone

A shocking video has been posted in the internet, showing a van driver deliberately running over a living dog which was laying on the road. The perpetrator has been already detained by the police. The young man was charged with killing a dog with extreme cruelty.

Police are looking for the man who splashed a woman with corrosive acid in Gdańsk

It was a tall, muscular man on a bike. He was approximately 180 centimetres high and about 45-50 years old. The victim didn't know him. When she approached him, he splashed her with corrosive liquid - that's how much the investigators know about the perpetrator of the attack on a 45-year-old woman from Gdańsk. "Big project that can win next elections". PO and Modern Party discuss integration

Sławomir Neumann, the head of the Civic Platform-Civic Coalition club, on Friday declared himself a supporter of closer cooperation between PO and Modern Party and of further intergration of the two parties in the future. "Integration allows to create a big project that can win the parliamentary elections in the fall," said the PO politician. Secretary General of the Modern Party, Adam Szłapka talked on Friday about the return to the idea of the Civic Coalition which "proved very effective".

Former health minister: people are dying in corridors - we've warned against that

We've warned that introducing regulations that in fact liquidate night and holiday health care and directing patients to hospital emergency wards could lead to a tragedy. And tragedies happen, said former health minister from Civic Platform, Bartosz Arłukowicz. The current minister of health, Łukasz Szumowski informed about "new solutions" by his ministry which assume that patients at emergency wards would be monitored every hour by the personnel.

The United Right coalition's leaders met on Thursday at Law and Justice's (PiS) headquarters in Warsaw. The summit called in order to discuss the cabinet reshuffle, apart from PiS leadership, was attented by the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Agreement party, Jarosław Gowin, as well as United Poland's leader and Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro.

Monument to General Zygmunt Berling will be moved to a museum

Warsaw's monument to General Zygmunt Berling, located in Saska Kępa neighbourhood, will be moved by the end of the year to the Polish History Museum - announced the spokesperson of Praga Południe district Andrzej Opala. He added that moving of the monument will cost about 50,000 zlotys. In its place, a garden square will be established.

President Andrzej Duda's first flight on "Piłsudski" plane

President Andrzej Duda, on his way with official visit to Azerbeijan, has flown for the first in Boeing 737-800 NG Józef Piłsudski. The aircraft is fitted to perform flights with Poland's most important figures on board. "Nice, neat, cool. We shall see what the flight feels like," said Andrzej Duda on board of the plane.

Drunk driver and dangerous manouvre result in a shocking accident

Dangerous accident involving two cars in Gdańsk. The vehicles at first collided and then one of them flipped over. The female driver who sustained numerous injuries was taken to a hospital. The driver of the second car was detained by the police because, as it later turned out, he was under the influence of alcohol.
