Andrzej Halicki at the helm of Civic Platform-Polish People's Party EU delegation

Newly elected MEP Andrzej Halicki was chosen on Friday as the head of Civic Platform - Polish People's Party (PO-PSL) delegation to the European Parliament. The 22 MEPs will join the whole European People's Party which is to choose its leadership soon. The current leader, Manfred Weber, is likely to remain at the helm of the party.

Former health minister: people are dying in corridors - we've warned against that

We've warned that introducing regulations that in fact liquidate night and holiday health care and directing patients to hospital emergency wards could lead to a tragedy. And tragedies happen, said former health minister from Civic Platform, Bartosz Arłukowicz. The current minister of health, Łukasz Szumowski informed about "new solutions" by his ministry which assume that patients at emergency wards would be monitored every hour by the personnel.

Leaders of the ruling coalition discussed the cabinet reshuffle options

The United Right coalition's leaders met on Thursday at Law and Justice's (PiS) headquarters in Warsaw. The summit called in order to discuss the cabinet reshuffle, apart from PiS leadership, was attented by the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Agreement party, Jarosław Gowin, as well as United Poland's leader and Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro.

Monument to General Zygmunt Berling will be moved to a museum

Warsaw's monument to General Zygmunt Berling, located in Saska Kępa neighbourhood, will be moved by the end of the year to the Polish History Museum - announced the spokesperson of Praga Południe district Andrzej Opala. He added that moving of the monument will cost about 50,000 zlotys. In its place, a garden square will be established.

President Andrzej Duda's first flight on "Piłsudski" plane

President Andrzej Duda, on his way with official visit to Azerbeijan, has flown for the first in Boeing 737-800 NG Józef Piłsudski. The aircraft is fitted to perform flights with Poland's most important figures on board. "Nice, neat, cool. We shall see what the flight feels like," said Andrzej Duda on board of the plane.

In August 2016 in London, in a condo occupied by Polish immigrants a violent murder was committed. After circumstantial prosecution, the British Court sentenced two Poles for life imprisonment. Marek Lisiński, the chairman of the "Have No Fear" foundation that helps victims of paedophile priests has resigned from his function. "Gazeta Wyborcza" wrote that he is believed to have extorted money from a victim of a paedophile priest and demanded payment from Tomasz and Marek Sekielski, the authors of "Tell No One" movie.

Drunk driver and dangerous manouvre result in a shocking accident

Dangerous accident involving two cars in Gdańsk. The vehicles at first collided and then one of them flipped over. The female driver who sustained numerous injuries was taken to a hospital. The driver of the second car was detained by the police because, as it later turned out, he was under the influence of alcohol.

Law and Justice party meeting: changes in the government "any day now"

The meeting of Law and Justice party's top politicians has come to end on Wednesday evening. After leaving the party's headquarters, deputy chairman Adam Lipiński refused to reveal any details of the talks. "I'm not allowed to say anything," he said. Asked when we could expect the names of new ministers who would replace those who won seats in the European Parliament, he replied: "I've no idea, but probably sooner than later".

Gdynia. City bus driver stopped a man drinking vodka behind the wheel

Bottle of vodka in one hand and the steering wheel in the other - that's how a drunk driver was cruising through traffic in the centre of Gdynia. Luckily, he was spotted by a city bus driver. The woman blocked his way, the passengers went out and apprehended the man, who now is in the hands of the police.

Presidential aide on Trump-Duda meeting: we hope for a breakthrough

Presidential minister Krzysztof Szczerski expressed hope on Tuesday after talks in the White House that the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Polish President Andrzej Duda on June 12 will have a "breakthrough character" for Poland's efforts to increase US military presence in Poland.
