Poland's foreign minister on Friday reiterated Poland's opposition to the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and its expectations for reparations for World War Two, as Germany's new head of diplomacy visited Warsaw for the first time.

An inspection at Bielański Hospital in Warsaw is to take place in December. Voivedeship obstetrics and gynaecology consultant has asked the facility to provide its register of preganacy terminations, rejected abortion requests, and stillbirths. Health Ministry says the it's "a standard, routine control, not related to any particular medical case".

By filing an official indictment against Stefan W. at the court- the killer of Gdańsk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz - Gdańsk District Prosecutor's Office has ended a lenghty investigation into the tragedy. The mayor was brutally slain during a public event in January, 2019.

At December's meeting Poland's Monetary Policy Council (RPP) has decided to increase interest rates for the third time in a row. Inflation in Poland has reached the highest levels in 20 years. Poland's central bank chief Adam Glapiński said at a press conference on Thursday that the last increase of interest rates was "very significant", but added there was "still room for further increases".

At Podzamcze residential estate in Wałbrzych (Lower Silesian Voivodeship), a hunter was shooting wild boar in the middle of the day, without prior notice and no safety measures. According to local residents, children could see animals dying in pain. The hunter was hired by the city, but the authorities stress that he "should have taken completely different measures", and promised to inspect its own prodecures. Wałbrzych Mayor has notified the prosecutor's office about the incident.

Britain will send 140 military engineers to Poland this month to provide support at its border with Belarus, the Ministry of Defence said, in response to what it termed pressures from "irregular migration".

Polish Air Force F-16s intercepted a Russian IL-20 reconeissance plane - NATO Air Command informed. The fighter jets, currently deployed to Šiauliai Air Base in Lithuania on enhanced Air Policing, launched their first Alpha Scramble above the Baltic Sea.

The Czech government on Wednesday approved the deployment of up to 150 soldiers to help Poland stop the flow of migrants seeking entry from Belarus, a crisis the European Union has accused Minsk of engineering.

During his visit to the Silesia region, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was asked if his wife would disclose her assets. The question, which the government chief decided to ignore, comes after TVN24 and tvn24.pl have revealed the history of land purchased in 2002. The Left alliance demanded Iwona Morawiecka's assets be made publically known.

In a letter to Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has asked how Poland intends to ensure the effective implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights. Poland's Constitutional Tribunal ruled on November 24 that Article 6, paragraph 1 of the Convention, in some instances, was not compatible with the Polish Constitution.

NATO is prepared to reinforce its eastern flank, should Russia take action in Ukraine - said U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith in an interview for TVN24 correspondent in Brussels Maciej Sokołowski. She added that "Vladimir Putin does not have a veto over future rounds of enlargement" of the NATO. Ambassador Smith also touched upon Joe Biden's talks with the Russian president, as well as the situation on Poland's border with Belarus.

Business owners from Kuźnica municipality (Podlaskie Voivodeship) ask the state for support. In September, due to the migrant crisis at the Belarus border, a state of emergency was introduced in the area, which lasted for two months. Recently, a ban on entering the area has been imposed by the government. "We want someone to hear us, as we're in a very difficult situation. Our businesses grinded to a halt, we have no source of income," they alarm.

Poland's Health Minister Adam Niedzielski announced at a press conference on Tuesday that members of three professions - medics, teachers, and all uniformed services - will have a duty to get vaccinated starting March 1.

Fewer migrants are trying to cross the frontier between Poland and Belarus, but the Polish Border Guard told journalists visiting the previously off-limits border zone on Monday that it still faces provocations from Belarusian forces.

Polish prime minister's wife, Iwona Morawiecka, has earned over 14 million zlotys on selling famous plots of land in Wrocław, which she had bought with her husband in 2002 for 700,000 zlotys - according to a notarial act seen by TVN24 and tvn24.pl. Morawiecka promised two years ago that if the city wanted to construct a road on this plot, she would sell the needed part for a price specified in the deed, taking inflation into account, and donate the received sum to charity. The property was bought for 14.9 million zlotys by a company established 10 months prior to the transaction. 

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said his government would present a new package of pandemic restrictions this week in response to the new Omicron coronavirus variant and was considering how to handle the approaching Christmas holidays.

The state of emergency at the border with Belarus has been replaced with a ban on entering the zone, effective until March 1, 2022. Organised groups of reporters will be allowed to enter the area under the watch of border guards. A press centre for reporters has been opened in Popławce, just outside the zone. The government held the first press conference there. "We are prepared for more organised migrant groups appearing in the coming months," said the government spokesperson, specifying that the migrants are likely to come from Afghanistan. Deputy foreign minister urged to not get distracted with the border situation from what was happening in Belarus.

People initially inoculated with single-shot Johnson & Johnson, who later received COVID-19 booster shots, may experience problems with their vaccination certificates. "After discussing the issue with digital affairs minister, we've made an urgent decision to halt issuing of certificates," Health Ministry spokesman Wojciech Andrusiewicz said on Friday. He added that the problem concerns all EU member states.

Facebook's parent company Meta has linked the Belarusian KGB to the setting up of dozens of fake social media accounts of people posing as journalists and activists to stir up a migrant crisis on the border of Belarus and Poland.

The Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) archives section is seeking information on people captured in a photograph by Henryk Śmigacz. The picture shows a pair of young people, a woman and a man, standing in the ruins of Warsaw. "Maybe one of You will recognise their father, granfather, grandmother, or great grandmother? We want to find out where they came from and what happened to them later on? Where and in what circumstances the picture was taken?" - the institute said in a Facebook post.

The European Union's top court should dimiss a challenge by Poland and Hungary to a new tool aimed at cutting cash payments to member states violating the bloc's rules on democracy, a legal opinion released on Thursday said.

Local council in Stary Sącz (Lesser Poland Voivodeship) have revoked a so-called anti-LGBT resolution which discriminated against non-heterosexual people. One councillor did not like the decision so much that she stood up during the session and sang out Polish medieval religious hymn "Bogurodzica". That didn't affect the vote result, and the controversial resolution has been rescinded.

The European Union proposed on Wednesday curtailing some rights of migrants at its borders with Belarus, including letting asylum seekers be held at border camps for up to four months and allowing for faster deportations.

Polish National Health Fund's inquiry into the death of a pregnant woman in County Hospital in Pszczyna has confirmed glaring irregularities as regards organisation, methods, and quality of service provided to the patient. The fund has also ordered the hospital to pay a fine of nearly 650,000 zlotys.
