The acting chairman of Poland's financial watchdog (KNF) Marcin Pachucki said on Friday that financial system in Poland was stable and his institution was ready to act if needed. Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said later on Friday the banking sector was doing well.

During Friday's proceedings at the Court of Justice of the European Union regarding the temporary measures taken against Polish Supreme Court law, Poland's representative Bogusław Majczyna and the president of the ECJ Koen Lenaerts presented contradicting standpoints regarding the suspension of provisions of the said law.

The number one story in Poland is the KNF-gate. The KNF is the Polish state financial market regulator. Its former chief has been recorded while soliciting a bribe from the owner of a troubled bank. Shortly before the scandal broke out, the KNF insisted on its office being granted more power to decide on banks resolutions. The government claims that the bill on the banks should not be linked to the scandal and that it's in line with the EU regulations. The opposition, however, wants a special parliamentary commission to investigate the case.

Matthew L., according to the Polish law we cannot disclose his full name, got in trouble by assaulting a paramedic while being drunk. He needed their help after, most likely, getting into a fight. Matthew L. is a renowned American artist who is best known for his work with director Darren Aronovski. He has also worked on such hits like "Iron Man" and "A Star is Born". He was a guest of the Camerimage movie festival in Bydgoszcz. If found guilty, he might spend three years in prison.
