"Judges are holding out hope". The new National Council of the Judiciary's disciplinary body summoned five judges

"Judges are holding out hope. We are defending values and we will not relent until the end," Warsaw Regional Court's judge Igor Tuleya has reassured when summoned to the National Council of the Judiciary. Yet more judges will have testify in front of the disciplinary representative. In question are statements they made, as well as their behaviour, that was aimed at upholding the Constitution. CJEU to issue preliminary rulings for Polish Supreme Court in an expedited procedure

As TVN24 International has learned, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has made a decision regarding the first request for a preliminary ruling by the Polish Supreme Court. The CJEU will examine the request in an expedited procedure. The Supreme Court has sent five questions regarding independence of courts and judges, as well as about EU law against age discrimination.

"Artist" and butcher sentenced to prison after an artful scam worth millions

An artist and a butcher - a seemingly unlikely duo came together in what they thought was a brilliant plan. Paintings produced were valued at 2 billion zlotys and then attempts were made to collect 160 million zlotys in VAT returns. The so-called artist will now serve 5 years in prison, while his accomplice, the butcher will serve 4.

Millions from the Society of Christ? Court to decide over a compensation for a rape victim

Will the Church be held liable for the action's of its priests? The Court of Appeals in Poznań will review the appeal of the Society of Christ, after a preliminary ruling ordering the Church to pay compensation to a 13-year-old who was bound and raped by a priest. For the well-being of the victim, the court is holding the hearing behind closed doors. The verdict will be announced on the 2nd of October.

Marta Kaczyńska's car had been stolen and returned shortly after. Thief called the police

A thief with a conscience or maybe one who just got scared. The daughter of the former Polish president Lech Kaczyński had her car stolen and then given back. As the tvn24.pl website discovered, inside the car there were document identifying Marta Kaczyński as the owner. Thieves decided to return the car before matters got out of hand. The car was stolen last Friday, from a parking lot in Sopot. The same day the vehicle was found in the area of Gdańsk. So far, we have determined that the thief left the Audi close to the Administrative Department of the Regional Police Headquarters, called the police officers and told them the location of the car. The person responsible has not yet been apprehended. Police are currently conducting an investigation and securing evidence and surveillance footage.

PM Morawiecki: I'm under impression that Juncker is looking for a compromise
