45 alleged Ożarów gang members arrested in a large-scale police operation

Central Bureau of Police Investigations' officers have detained 26 people in Warsaw and its environs, who are believed to be members of the Ożarów gang, known for its high-skill drug trade. It is estimated that its members distributed almost 270 kilograms of narcotics, worth almost 13 million zlotys. In total, 45 people are suspects and the police have not ruled out more arrests.

Supreme Administrative Court suspended execution of Judiciary Council's resolution

Chief of the Supreme Administrative Court decided to suspend the resolution adopted by the National Council of the Judiciary, regarding appointing justice's to the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court. Unofficially, the Administrative Court is supporting its decision by saying the prime minister should have co-signed the appointments, alongside the president. Meanwhile, the PM says the decision by the European Commission to file a lawsuit against Poland in the European Court of Justice, cuts off dialogue.

Court puts Polish state-owned carrier employees' strike on hold

The court said "no". A strike by employees of LOT Polish Airlines will have to wait. The unionists were claiming that they hadn't ruled out a general strike because for three years they have been unable to reach understanding with the management board of the carrier, regarding the changed conditions of their employment. "Judges are holding out hope". The new National Council of the Judiciary's disciplinary body summoned five judges

"Judges are holding out hope. We are defending values and we will not relent until the end," Warsaw Regional Court's judge Igor Tuleya has reassured when summoned to the National Council of the Judiciary. Yet more judges will have testify in front of the disciplinary representative. In question are statements they made, as well as their behaviour, that was aimed at upholding the Constitution. Everyone was summoned in the role of witness.

Paweł Pawlikowski's "Cold War" wins Golden Lions at Gdynia Film Festival

Internationally acclaimed "Cold War", a movie by Paweł Pawlikowski has won the Golden Lions for best film at the Polish Film Festiwal in Gdynia. It also garnered the awards for best sound and best film-editing. Best actor went to Adam Woronowicz for "The Butler", whereas Grażyna Błęcka-Kolska won best actress for her role in "Pardon". The controversial movie "Clergy" won a special audience award.
