Road contractor blames coal mine for cracks in the newly built road

A new express way in Lower Silesia is literally covered in patches. The S3 road between Legnica and Zielona Góra was opened only 5 months ago but it already needs some major fixing. It isn't clear, however, who will pay for it. The road contractor is blaming the nearby the local coal mine for the cracks and wants to issue an invoice.

If you ride public transportation, it could land you in jail - if you travel without a ticket, that is. A woman from Chrzanów, southern Poland, notorious for this will spend 10 days behind bars. The court's decision is now legally binding. She's been treated with such severity because she was caught by inspectors without a ticket 67 times.

Their latest revelation is that Kaczyński was the decision maker regarding the investment. Kazimierz Kujda, the president of the National Environmental Protection Fund and former head of Srebrna firm and close advisor of Kaczyński negotiated personally with the Austrian businessman.

Abandoned cat adopted by Wrocław city hall

There's a Brit in the Wrocław city hall. A British breed of cat that is. After it was abandoned at a bus station, it now works in the mayor's office. The feline has been named Wrocek by local residents.

Record fundraiser for the European Solidarity Centre

After the ministry of culture slashed the budget for the European Solidarity Centre, internet users came together to collect 3,5 million zlotys in less than two days. The centre had refused to employ the deputy director recommended by the ministry and to change its exhibition on "Solidarity". As a result, the ministry allocated 4 million zlotys for the activities of the centre this year, which is 3 million less than before.
