Zoo in Poznań to rescue nine tigers stuck at Belarus border

A truck carrying caged tigers has been stopped on the Poland-Belarus border since Sunday (October 27) as Belarusian authorities refused it permission to cross into the country. One animal has died in transport. The condition of remaining nine animals has been assessed as "tragic".

Polish animations make Oscars record-long candidates list

Polish animation is battling it out on a long list for an Oscar. The chances are good for "Acid Rain" by Tomasz Popakul, and "Portrait of Suzanne" by Izabela Plucińska. Electoral commission issues negative opinions on 36 electoral protests

The National Electoral Commission (PKW) on Monday issued negative opinions regarding 36 electoral protests. Four of them had been submitted by the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, one by Civic Coalition, and one by Polish People's Party - informed the head of the National Electoral Bureau (KBW), Magdalena Pietrzak. The PKW has recommended the Supreme Court not to pursue the complaints any further.

Mother and her three children die in a fire in Inowrocław

A 31-year-old mother and her three children, aged 3 months, four and five years, died in a fire of a tenement house in Inowrocław (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship) on Monday. Twelve fire department units were working at the scene. The cause of the fire is yet unknown.

Disciplinary spokesperson on "smear campaign": no grounds for inquiry

Proceedings carried out so far with the questioned witnesses, including judge Łukasz Piebiak, did not reveal any factual or legal grounds to launch disciplinary inquiries or present disciplinary charges regarding the alleged misconduct - the Disciplinary Spokesperson for the Common Courts Judges, Piotr Schab, said on Friday. He was referring to the hate campaign scandal aimed to discredit certain judges, that was allegedly orchestated by employees of the Ministry of Justice.
