Warsaw police are looking for a knife attack suspect

Warsaw police have released a composite sketch of a man suspected of a knife attack near Wierzbno metro station. The attacker approached two men who were holding hands and, at first, abused them verbally and walked away. He quickly returned and stabbed one of the men in the back with a sharp object.

More than 20,000 coronavirus infections on Thursday

The Ministry of Health informed on Thursday about 21,045 new coronavirus infections and the death of 375 COVID patients. This is the highest daily record since November 21, when 24,213 cases were reported. Poland has reported 1,849,424 coronavirus infections and 46,373 COVID-related deaths so far.

French minister: I was prevented to visit "LGBT-free" zone. Poland denies

French Secretary of State for European Affairs Clement Beaune, currently visiting Poland, planned to visit Kraśnik, one of the municipalities which had adopted an anti-LGBT resolution last year. The priest, accused of sexual abuse of a 15-year-old, has been sentenced for 3 years in prison and a 10-year ban on working with children and youth. The verdict is not yet legally binding.

Health ministry: up to 20,000 daily infections this week

Poland could this week see up to 20,000 new coronavirus cases a day, the health ministry said on Monday, as it grapples with its third wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Ministry spokesman Wojciech Andrusiewicz told the private radio station Radio Plus that Poles should expect restrictions during the Easter holidays.

"We expect over 18,000 daily coronavirus cases next week"

The girl was in the middle of an online class, when her granny, suffering from diabetes, collapsed and hit her head. The lady wasn't able to call for help on her own, so Amelka stepped in.

Court: Poland will not extradite activist wanted by China

Zhihui Li, a 53-year-old Swedish citizen of Chinese origin, should not be extradited to China, said the Court of Appeals in Warsaw. Six months ago, the court did not find any reason not to hand over the man who is a member of an organisation brutally persecuted by Beijing and wanted by local prosecutors for alleged fraud.

WWII air bomb detonated by sappers

Changes to vaccine programme. Longer wait for second doses

"We plan to extend the period between the first and the second dose of the vaccine" - Prime Minister's aide Michał Dworczyk said on Thursday. He explained that, starting next week, second doses of AstraZeneca vaccine will be applied 12 weeks after the first, whereas Pfizer's - 42 days after the first. More changes to the vaccination programme are to follow.
