Political landscape after Sunday's local elections. Big cities have cast a shadow over the victory Law and Justice had in the voivodeships. The latest data shows that the ruling party have done better than initially thought. However, the opposition says the victory is theirs. This a prelude to the parliamentary electoral clash next year.

Professor Gersdorf called upon retired judges to return to Supreme Court

The former head of Poland's Supreme Court, Małgorzata Gersdorf, has called on all judges forced into early retirement by the Polish government since July to go back to their desks in line with EU court injunction. She issued the appeal in her "constitutional" role, she said in an open letter, challenging the authority of her government-appointed successor, and highlighting the judicial chaos in Poland at the moment.

Some people couldn't cast their votes. Ministry claims the system works fine

During the Sunday's local elections, there were numerous complaints from people who had registered online to be eligible to vote and yet they were sent away from the voting stations. According to the Minister of Digital Affairs Marek Zagórski, the computer system did just fine on Sunday and that the problem lies in the faulty organisation on part of the local voting stations.

EU commission: ECJ shared our view on Polish Supreme Court law

The European Commission's spokesman Margaritis Schinas said on Monday that by Friday's injunction issued against the implementation of the Polish Supreme Court law, the European Court of Justice shared the commission's view that the Polish law is incompatible with the EU law.
