A duck and a goose take a train ride to an agriculture museum

The National Museum of Agriculture in Szreniawa (in Greater Poland Voivodeship) had two of the most unusual guests: a duck and a goose. According to their owner, the waterfowl rode on a train with him and his dog. "I couldn't believe it, and I work at the agriculture museum and have seen a lot already," says the museum curator.

Cat finds home in legendary Dragon's Lair at Wawel Castle in Kraków

A dark-grey cat found home in the famous Dragon's Lair underneath the Wawel Royal Castle in Kraków. Just like the original mythical dweller, the feline was lured out with a tasty-looking meal. Not only did castle security guards name the cat Wawel, but they also gave him a nickname: Smoczek, which means "little dragon" in Polish.

It took nearly two weeks to remove WWII-era unexploded ordnances found in a forest near Wołów (Lower Silesian Voivodeship). Sappers working at the site located more than 1,000 landmines, 3,500 fuses, and 32 aerial bombs weighing 100 kilograms each. Two of those bombs were detonated on the spot.

Defence minister approves blanket order for 1,400 Borsuk infantry vehices

Poland's Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak on Tuesday approved the contract to purchase around 1,400 Borsuk amphibious infantry fighting vehicles as well as auxiliary vehicles. The first four machines are to be ready to use by the Polish Armed Forces already this year. "The era of BWP Borsuk has come," minister Błaszczak said at a press conference in Stalowa Wola. The IFVs will be produced by the local contractor Huta Stalowa Wola.
