The National Electoral Commission (PKW) registered three election committees on Tuesday: Razem Party, Civic Platform and Modern Party's coalition and Polish People's Party, the Chairman of the PKW Wojciech Hermeliński informed on Thursday. He added that the deadline for registering committees for local elections passes on 27 August.

Poland's top judge Małgorzata Gersdorf, who is locked in a dispute with the ruling party, has urged the European Union to move faster to defend her country's judiciary from government efforts to increase its influence over the courts.

Poland will hold local elections on October 21 with a second round on November 4, according to a document published on Tuesday on the website of the Journal of Laws.
