"Constitution T-shirt on monument" case dropped by the prosecutor

It was legal, procedurally valid but unfounded. This was how the court in Biała Podlaska evaluated the detainment by the police of the man who in the beginning of August, hung a shirt with the word "Constitution" on a monument of Maria and Kaczyński. Stanisław Dembowski, an activist for the Committee for the Defense of Democracy (KOD) was detained that same day, his phone was taken away and he was presented with a search warrant on his home.

Officers outraged after police commander temporarily freezes "personal expenditures"

There will be no extra perks for law enforcement officials. The head of the police command, Jarosław Szymczyk sent a letter to regional police headquarters in which he ordered a freeze on personal expenditures that can't be included in salaries paid out to the police. Police officials are outraged and underline that reaching into the pockets of police officers is a bad idea.

"Language of ignorance and even vilification, speech that denies equal status to certain groups, cannot be tolerated and requires our reaction," the Commissioner for Human Rights Adam Bodnar commented on Mariusz Błaszczak's "sodomites" remark. Defense minister used this word to decribe participants of Equality March in Poznań. According to Commissioner Bodnar, such remarks are "legitimising hate speech" and should be castigated by public figures.

We respect President's decision but we hold on to our standpoint; we believe that European elections are important and we wanted a strong representation which would influence decisions, not such dispersion - Law and Justice's spokesperson Beata Mazurek said on Thursday commenting on President Duda's decision to block changes to European election rules.

There have been more arrests but the solution to the problem is still hard to find. The battle against dealers of designer drugs continues. In the last few days, the police in Łódź cought six people suspected of dealing. Officers from Zakopane confiscated over a kilogram of harmful substances.

Electoral Commission: three committees already registered for local elections

The National Electoral Commission (PKW) registered three election committees on Tuesday: Razem Party, Civic Platform and Modern Party's coalition and Polish People's Party, the Chairman of the PKW Wojciech Hermeliński informed on Thursday. He added that the deadline for registering committees for local elections passes on 27 August.
