Polish movie, theatre and TV director, Kazimierz Kutz died on Tuesday. His wife informed about his passing. The renowned director was 89 years old. Kutz was originally from Upper Silesia and on many occasions emphasised that "he would go anywhere, as long as he could do some good for Silesia". This region of southern Poland, as well as its residents often played a central part in his movies. He directed the so-called Silesian Trilogy which included "Salt of the Black Earth," "Pearl in the Crown" and "Beads of a Rosary". Kazimierz Kutz was a keen politician. In 1997 he was elected senator in the ranks of Liberty Union. He won the ticket on four other occasions as well: in 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2011, as Civic Platform's candidate or non-affiliated candidate.
