Actress, movie producer and activist Trudie Styler, in private life the wife of British singer Sting, on Monday (May 2) visited the Help Ukraine Center in Lublin, where she met with volunteers and Ukrainian families. She spoke, among other things, about positive things that can happen even in terrible times like these, and stressed that she and her husband wanted to be useful and helpful.
During her visit at the Help Ukraine Center in Lublin on Monday, Trudie Styler said it was a revelation to her that so positive things could happen in such terrible times. She also called for solidarity and admitted she felt touched with the unity between the Poles and the Ukrainians.
She also said she had become involved in supporting the Help Ukraine Center thanks to a tip from Polish film director Małgorzata Szumowska, adding that she herself and her husband wanted to be useful and helpful.
Styler: Poland left the door open for the Ukrainians
Styler said it was fantastic to see that Ukrainians who arrive in Poland knew that the door was open for them and felt welcome.
She also praised the Ukrainians for their tough struggle and courage, adding that it is impossible to imagine how grim an experience is to lose one's home and loved ones.
She added that human kindness is greater than everyhting else, and called upon everyone to show support to those in need.
150 volunteers involved every day
The Help Ukraine Center in Lublin has been created thanks to a joint initiative of the largest logistics companies in Ukraine. They have joined forces to establish centres across Eastern Europe, dedicated to collecting and fast delivering of humanitarian and medical aid to Ukraine.
Two major hubs have been set up: one in Poland and the other in Romania. Approximately 150 volunteers are involved in this initiative every day. In March, the Help Ukraine Center sent 3,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Most of it was food, hygiene products and medicines.
UNICEF Ambassador Trudie Styler
Actress, movie producer and activist Trudie Styler is also known for her charity work. Together with her husband Sting, she established the Rainforest Foundation Fund, dedicated to drawing attention to rainforests and defending the rights of indigenous peoples living there.
In 2004, she became a UNICEF Ambassador. Styler and Sting have been supporting the Help Ukraine Center since the first days of the war.
