Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki gave a speech at the Harvard Club in New York City on Thursday, opening for a panel discussion among the leaders of the country's biggest firms, such as PZU, PKO BP, and Pekao S.A., meant to encourage foreign investments in Poland.

The driver of the Porsche who caused a deadly accident that killed a 57-year-old man in Slovakia has been arrested and placed in temporary detention pending arraignment. The second man who was also taking part in the illegal street-race in Dolny Kubin will be released as long as he posts bail. The third man is free and awaiting trial.

The women who blocked the nationalists' march during the Independence Day last year have been found guilty of hindering a legal assembly. That was the ruling of the Regional Court in Warsaw. Each of the counterprotesters must now pay a 200 zloty fine and jointly pay for court fees. Those convicted say they will appeal against the decision.

Law and Justice representative Stanisław Piotrowicz threatened representative Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus with a lawsuit for her online comment. She encouraged people to read and share information about the then prosecutor Piotrowicz dismissed a case against a paedophile priest. It concerns a parson that was later convicted of paedophilia. Mr Piotrowicz insists that he was not responsible for throwing out the case and he had nothing to do with it. Ms Scheuring-Wielgus, on the other hand, also highlighted the comment which Mr Piotrowicz made, concerning the way the priest behaved with children.

They've been on a hunger strike for the last month and on Thursday they came to Warsaw. Nurses from Przymyśl are agitated by the words of Law and Justice about their protest. They wanted to visit the Sejm to voice their opinion, but the Marshal of the Sejm and the Marshal's Guard wouldn't let them in.

To vaxx, or not to vaxx. 121,000 people signed a project bill that would liquidate the requirement to vaccinate children against infectious diseases. In most cases it would leave the decision to the parents. Those in medical community though, claim that there is no justification to not vaccinate children and that the claims of the anti-vaxxer movement are fake news. But still the citizens' initiative introducing the anit-vaccination bill wan not thrown out. The majority in the Sejm voted to send the bill to the committee.

The row over the Supreme Court continues to rage. Tensions were ramped up by both sides recently, in part due to the Polish President claiming that judges protesting against reforms are violating the Constitution. Judges and lawyers, in turn, claim that the President is the one breaching the fundemental act. The European Court of Justice will have its hands full with cases regarding the Polish judiciary. There's a pending lawsuit from the European Commission and questions for a preliminary ruling from the Supreme Court.

Mateusz Morawiecki rang the opening bells at the New York Stock Exchange. What a way for the prime minister to kick-off his visit to the United States. The purpose of his visit is to promote Polish business and encourage investment in Poland.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense, James Mattis told me that the Pentagon is working very intensively over the offer to set up permanent U.S. military bases in Poland, said Polish Minister of Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak after the meeting of defense ministers of NATO member-states in Brussels.

Charges have been brought against the Polish drivers who made a race track out of Slovakian public roads, killing one man. Three reckless men were driving luxury cars. Among them was a yound journalist who had the vehicle on a test drive. The joyride ended in tragedy. In addition to killing one person, they also injured two others.

The District Court in Warsaw rejected an appeal by Marek Falenta's barristers to postpone his punishment of 2,5 years in prison, regarding the so-called "tape scandal". At the same time the court suspended on Tuesday the execution of the punishment until a "possible complaint is examined".

The "tape scandal" is coming back like a boomerang. New recordings published by Onet.pl feature the current prime minister when he was a banker five years ago. Mateusz Morawiecki admits to liberal views, speaks warmly about Angela Merkel and uses a bit of foul language, contrasting the image he presents today. At the time of their release Law and Justice called the recordings "tapes of truth". Now they say they are just a "reheated meal".

The European Commission has officially filed a lawsuit against Poland in the European Court of Justice. The reason is the judicial reform by Law and Justice. In accordance with the earlier annoucement, the Commission will also demand an expedited procedure.

Thanks to it's reliability and their innovation they came in first. Students from the University of Technology in Łódź beat their rivals with their solar-powered car. They won the 24-hour race at the European Solar Challenge in Belgium.

A little boy swallowed a little safety-pin and obviously had a very big problem. The parents of the 6-month-old took the the boy to a local hospital where doctors transferred him to a larger hospital. Not by ambulance, however. The parents had to drive him there themselves. While on route, began to choke, so the parents flagged down a police car for an escort and averted greater danger. Once there, however, the child was transferred yet again to another hospital, in Wrocław. Only there, the long story had its happy ending.
