European courts continue to voice concerns over independence of Polish judiciary

Poland may face huge problems regarding legal cooperation with other EU member-states. The reason? The recent changes to the Polish judiciary. Many international organisations and institutions claim that the Polish government, through such reforms has damaged judicial indpendence. As a result, an increasing number of foreign courts are asking tough questions and that might paralise the extradition process of many dangerous criminals.

Law and Justice claims Mayor of Łódź won't be allowed to work once re-elected

"Even if she wins the elections she may not be permitted by law to take office." Those are some very controversial words from a high-ranking member of the Polish government. According to the influential Law and Justice polticians, should the Mayor of Łódź be re-elected, she could not serve because she's recently been found guilty of making untrue statements in official documents. The thing is she represents opposition and according to her camp, the government is simply trying to manipulate and intimidate voters.

Polish parliament discussed the problem of paedophiles in the Church and their victims

Discussions are taking place in the Polish parliament about the problem of paedophile priests. The Church itself declared that it will publish the list of child molesters in its ranks. The minister of justice claims his government has already done enough to combat the issue. However, in the sex offenders register his administration drew up, there's not a single priest. In turns out that their crimes weren't brutal enough.

President's motorcade accident case dismissed as the boy had "only light injuries"

After the latest accident involving a government vehicle, the prosecutor decided that no legal action will be taken. This time, a 9-year-old boy was hit by the president's motorcade, on a crosswalk in Oświęcim. The medical expert who examined the boy claims the child was "only lightly injured," so the prosecutor determined that the case can be thrown out, before it's even begun.

Opposition unites in a call for prime minister Morawiecki's resignation amid tape scandal

The opposition in Poland is uniting in its call for the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to resign. That's the result of the so-called tape of truth, a recording of his conversation a few years ago, which contains a highly controversial and, according to the opposition, illegal statements. Law and Justice says this old news. However, the now ruling party had a different approach to such materials when it was in opposition and the other political side was on the tapes.

Court in Rzeszów: politicians may remove judges and interfere in judicial process

Politicians in Poland are able to remove judges from office and to interfere in the judicial process, claims a court in Rzeszów. That claim has been included in a response to a court in Spain which is supposed to make a decision regarding an extradition case to Poland. However before it reaches a conclusion it wanted to make sure that the Polish judiciary is independent. Now, it has been told it is not.

This year's Noble Package Christmas charity will be held as planned

This year, the 18th edition of the Noble Package charity will go down according to plan, despite the departure of Father Stryczek and the scandalous atmosphere with his co-workers. The founder of the countrywide charity stepped downafter being accused of mobbing by employees. Now, the coordination of the work will be handled by the president of the "Spring" association Joanna Sadzik, who has faith that the idea of the Noble Package is still just as important to Poles, as it has always been.

The 16th Warsaw Art Fair was held in the Royal Castle

Warsaw Art Fair is the most important art event in the country. This year 16th edition, was held for the 10th time in the prestigious Kubicki Arcades in The Royal Castle in Warsaw. Over 50 selected Polish and foreign galleries and antique shops presented nearly 1,000 works of art including paintings, sculptures and antique objects. This is the only event where you can see both contemporary classics and younger generations of successful artists. Among the exhibitors there were galleries specialized in photography, design and graphic.
