The police are looking for persons who poisoned bees in Tworzymirki (Wielkopolskie province). Someone killed 21 bee families there, which according to local police translate into approximately 420,000 insects. Some of the beehives were sealed with expanding foam.
On Saturday, September 11, unknown suspects poisoned 420,000 bees in Tworzymirki. The apiary is located in a nearby forest. It has been destroyed, and bees killed. Police in Gostyń are investigating the case.
"The perpetrators poisoned 21 bee families, that's about 420,000 bees. They destroyed four uninhabited hives by sealing them with expanding foam. "Most likely a chemical substance was used to poison the bees," said Monika Curyk, spokesperson for Country Police Station in Gostyń.
Police are looking for suspects and call for help
The police still don't know what was the motive. The damage has been estimated at 44,000 zlotys.
"We ask all persons who may have any information leading to identifying those responsible for the incident to call County Police Station in Gostyń at 47 77 25 200" - Curyk said.
The perpetrators will be facing up to five years in prison for damage to property.
