October 11 in the United States marks General Pulaski Memorial Day.
The Democratic Party presidential candidate and former vice president Joe Biden reminded in social media about the Polish-American hero and the holiday devoted to him.
"Today we join Polish-Americans in celebrating General Pulaski, whose heroism built the American cavalry and saved the life of George Washington. America will always stand with the Polish people against the common threats we face" - Joe Biden wrote on Twitter.
To mark General Pulaski Memorial Day, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a proclamation in which he wrote: "The life of the Polish-American hero General Casimir Pulaski is a testament to our Nation’s ideals and a paragon of the cause of human freedom".
"General Pulaski’s devotion to country — and the shared values upon which our Nation and Poland were both founded — accentuates our common commitment to liberty. On General Pulaski Memorial Day, we honor and celebrate his courage and expertise in the Revolutionary War, which helped found a Nation conceived in the ideals he held most dearly" - wrote the American president.
General Casimir Pulaski died on October 11, 1779, due to wounds sustained in the Siege of Savannah.
