Andriy Negrych, director of GEM (Global Empowerment Mission) Ukraine - which provides help to people who lived under Russian occupation - told TVN24 BiS about the organisation's mission. "Some of the towns, cities, and villages were under occupation for more than six months. They lived in fear of being killed, being rape. Unfortunately, many of them were," he said. Asked if such people want Ukraine to keep up the fight, he replied briefly: "Till the end, of course".
Asked about the reactions of people liberated from Russian occupation, the director of GEM (Global Empowerment Mission) Ukraine Andriy Negrych said: "First of all they are all happy to be back again in Ukraine, and they are very happy to be liberated and de-occupied from the Russian soldiers".
"They are telling us a lot of terrible stories they were passing through. A lot of madness happened to them during this occupation period. Some of the towns, cities, and villages were under occupation for more than six months. They lived in fear of being killed, being rape. Unfortunately, many of them were," he said.
Asked if such people want Ukraine to keep up the fight, he replied briefly: "Till the end, of course".
"All Ukrainians now support this fight and we all stand by our country and we all fight. We all want to be liberated, we want to live in our country, to have our lands, our native lands which belongs to us, the Ukrainians," he added.
All these people I speak with, they all believe that Ukraine will win, and will be liberated and independent," Negrych stressed.
Crucial needs of people liberated from Russian occupation
Asked about the most important needs of people from liberated territories, Negrych said that all stores in the area were closed. "People have no work, no income, no food, no water, no electricity, so physical items we're bringing to the people are very important," he added.
Negrych stressed, however, that the crucial thing for the occupation survivors was the attention of the world. "I heard them many times thanking us not for the food we bring, but for attention and that we are with them in this situation ... We show them that th world cares."
Addressing the people and politicians from the West, Negrych appealed: "Don't give up too. Fight. Fight for your freedom, because now Ukraine fights not only for its own freedom, laws, and independence. We are fighting for democracy and for human rights. And this is a bright example of what can be, if you are still on the good side of the world".
"I would like to say: just please, be on this good side of the world, and be nice, and keep fighting for the good, and against evil. And please support us, support Ukraine, support GEM's efforts in this fight" he underscored.
Asked about what his organisation needed the most, Negrych said: "The first need is the food supplies. Now winter is coming so small portable heaters, bedding, blankets, some warm clothes - everything is important".
"But as I told, the main is your attention. Even a few good words on Facebook chats, even your support, your positive opinion could help and could support Ukraine in democratic aspirations," he added.
