On 2 May Poles celebrate the National Flag Day. To mark the ocassion in Świnoujście town by the seaside, the largest flag in the world has been made. It will measure 720 square meters and will be flown on top of the Świnoujście lighthouse. Local kids helped to prepare the white and red banner.

The European Commision wants to condition EU funds on the rule of law. This could mean less money for Poland, as Warsaw is being accused of breaching the rule of law. However, the European Council and Parliament could still block the legislation.

Polish President Andrzej Duda has a grand project of creating a new constitution, suitable for the XXI century. First, he wants to ask the Poles about its content in a referendum. Before that happens however, he would have to ask the opinion of one Pole in particular, the ruling party's leader Jarosław Kaczyński.

Another conflict lies in the background of the protest of the disabled and their caretakers. They claim the government doesn't know how to manage the crisis and is dividing the community. Meanwhile, representatives of organisations that took part in the meeting at the Dialogue Center where a declaration was signed, say they were taken advantage of. Earlier on, it was rejected by protesters in the Sejm.

"The President will try to convince the senators to vote in favour of the referendum, once the motion is tabled. Surely, it would be helpful if Law and Justice approved of the idea," said the spokesman for the President, Krzysztof Łapiński in "Kropka nad i". President Andrzej Duda proposed last year that a consultation referendum regarding the Polish constitution should take place on November 11th, to mark the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland's sovereignty.

"Professor Adam Strzembosz is not my role model when it comes to justice system," said the Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General, Zbigniew Ziobro in "Fakty po Faktach". "Before the reform, Poland was a law corporation state," added the minister. Mr Ziobro also commented on issue of appointing members of the "National Judiciary Council". "I have absolutely nothing against full transparency around appointing of the judges. The process should definitely be transparent," he said.

President Andrzej Duda has tweeted his support of the fight for the life of 23-month-old Alfie Evans. The child has an undiagnosed brain disease that prevents him from seeing, hearing and tasting. The British courts decided to unplug Alfie from life support on Monday, while his parents are still fighting for his life.

"The minister of family, labour and social policy, Elżbieta Rafalska didn’t propose any new solutions", said Iwona Hartwich, one of the protesting mothers of disabled children. She took part in the meeting with ministry representatives. Mrs Hartwich also said that the protesters have put forward their demands, and announced that they have no intention of leaving the parliament building unless a new legislation is passed.

Extraordinary reflexes miraculously saved the lives of a driver and three of his family members. They were heading down the S1 road towards Mysłowice when suddenly a tyre exploded in a truck travelling next to the car. The tyre then hit the vehicle with great force, but thankfully nobody got hurt.

Despite the government saying that an agreement has been reached, the parents of the disabled claim otherwise. They met with the minister of family and social issues Elżbieta Rafalska. They have been protesting for eight days straight at the Sejm and they vow not to give up until they've won ground and had their demands met. They want better benefits, both monetary and in kind.

The true toll is still unknown, but local anglers are claiming an enviromental disaster - after a fire in a chemical packaging plant in Żywiec caused a massive release of turpentine into lake Żywiec. Anglers are collecting heaps of dead fish but local environmental protection officials are claiming that nothing serious had happened.

Law and Justice and the Polish President have both announced that they would like to make changes to the constitution. But now the question of the day is whether a referendum on the matter should be held or not. The president has expressed his will to do so, while the ruling party and the speaker of the Senate say no.

The world is celebrating the birth of the third Royal Baby, Poland included. The city of Warsaw sent a special gift for the newborn boy. It was a souvenir onesie that was sent to Kensington Palace.

"Some say that quality of a state can be judged by its attitude towards the weak. Today, the Polish state demonstrates its power. However, not the power of state in order to help, but to deceive those in need," said Civic Platform MP, Cezary Tomczyk in "Kropka nad i". "I wish the protesting mothers would acknowledge that we've reached an agreement and to trust this government, for this is a cross-party issue and there's no need to protest in the Sejm anymore. I'm calling them to do so. That would be the best thing to do," said former deputy defence minister, Bartosz Kownacki.

"The former ruling coalition of Civic Platform and People's Party had secured 656 million zloty in the budget reserve, that were destined to help people with disabilities and their caretakers. Unfortunately, this money isn't being paid out," said Grzegorz Schetyna in "Fakty po Faktach". The Civic Platform leader shared his view on PiS government's handling of the ongoing protest of the disabled people in the parliament. The other guest of the programme was general Tomasz Miłkowski, the chief of the State Protection Service.

Terrifying footage from a dashcam was sent to the Kontakt24 platform. A man was driving to Mysłowice with his family. When he was overtaking a tank truck on the highway, one of the truck's big tyres exploded. The results could have been tragic.

After a week-long protest in the parliament building, the government has responded to the demands of the disabled people and their parents.The parents did not accept the proposal, but that did not stop the government from signing it. Part of the community of the disabled agreed to make some cencessions to their demands. The protesters from the Sejm won't bugde and are desperate. They are asking the president to intervene.

Polish mountaineers will make another attempt to reach the summit of K2 during winter and thus break the world record. Another expedition to the Himalayas is to set off in winter 2019.

An ambulance carrying a girl in need of a transplant broke down in the middle of the road. The situation became more complicated when the crew of the ambulance had to help out another driver who had passed out, leaving the passenger to take over. Luckily, this unusual story had a happy ending.

The European Commission has drawn up a bill for legislation which would tie EU funds to the rule of law. According to the bill, funds could be withheld if, for example, a particular country does not have an independent judiciary. Poland's government has reacted negatively to the suggestion, claiming it is based on ideology, not the law.

The president of the European Council, Donald Tusk testified in court as witness at a trial of his former chief of office, Tomasz Arabski and four other officials. Mr Tusk gave evidence in the trial connected to the 2010 Smolensk plane catastrophy that claimed lives of 96 people, including President Lech Kaczyński and his wife Maria. Donald Tusk was the Polish PM at that time. The public and the politicians are now trying to determine the outcome of Mr Tusk's testimony.

A drunk man is trying to drive a car. Obviously, he has trouble doing so, so he asks others for help. How do they react? That's what the traffic police in Katowice wanted to find out and conducted an experiment. Watch the outcome, but bear in mind that the driver was not drunk. It was only an actor pretending to be under the influence.

"Poland's trade turnover with the USA reached a record 12.7 billion dollars in 2017. This is a good time to strengthen relations and show how much we have to offer," the entrepreneurship minister, Jadwiga Emilewicz said while visiting the Polish Chamber of Commerce established by prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the beginning of April. She emphasised that last year's trade turnover represented a 22-percent increase compared to 2016, and was the result of favourable trends in Polish-US relations, as well as a strong and stable Polish economy.

Poland's Modern Party has submitted a draft bill on civil partnerships. It was drawn up in close cooperation with LGBT organisations. It calls for recognition of same-sex and opposite-sex partnerships and for them both to be recognised by a common declaration in a registration office.
