Poland celebrates the 227th anniversary of the ratification of the 3rd of May Constitution. Official state celebrations started with a Holy Mass where the president and the first lady were present.

Polish foreign minister, Jacek Czaputowicz is on a mission in Brussels to bid "farewell to unnecessary tensions". He met with the First Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans. They discussed the rule of law in Poland which according to Brussels is a problem. But Poland could also have a problem in receiving funds from the EU budget.

Newly appointed US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo has sent his congratulations to Poland for the anniversary of the Constitution of the 3rd of May. He also mentioned the centennial of Polish independence and affirmed the strong Polish-US alliance.

President Andrzej Duda with his wife Agata took part in the commemorations of May 3rd Constitution Day. The head of state announced that he wants the consultation referendum regarding the constitution to take place between 10 and 11 of November. He also revealed that he's ready to submit an appropriate motion in Senate.

On the 16th day of protest in the parliament building, the parents and caretakers of people with disabilities have invited the first lady for a meeting. "We're really counting on your visit and your support for our demands," the protesters wrote in the invitation that was handed over to Mrs Kornhauser-Duda by father Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski.

"It's very bad news," said former prime minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, asked about the EU budget project that would introduce, among other changes, a 7-percent cut to cohesion policy. The guest of "Kropka nad i" added that he "can see the premise that the UE finally understood that it needs to react differently to problems with countries like Poland and Hungary. It's clear that the best advice is money".

"Today, it is important to focus on different priorities to make sure that Warsaw is a friendly city," said Rafał Trzaskowski, a candidate for mayor of Warsaw in "Fakty po Faktach". Mr Trzaskowski who is supported by his own Civic Platform and the Modern Party stressed that it it essential to address the needs of "senior citizens, young people and to improve housing policy and equal treatment of men and women". Asked if he's planning to continue the policy of the current mayor he said: "I meet with the people of Warsaw and the vast majority say that the city has improved under Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, but they criticise the reprivatisation scandal." The guest of the second part of the programme was the deputy foreign minister Konrad Szymański.

A short-circuit in the electrical installation is the most likely cause of the fire that torched the agricultural farm "Tatarska Jurta" in Kruszyniany in northeast Poland. Declarations of help to rebuild the complex have come in from the community, because the "Tatarska Jurta" has a special place on the cultural map of the Podlasie region and in the hearts of those who have visited it.

Law and Justice submitted a project of special solutions to support those with total disabilities. It assumes financing the rehabilitation by the National Health Fund. The government spokesperson said that the project would be examined by the Sejm during its nearest session on Tuesday.

It was an important day for EU member states as the budget draft for 2021 to 2027 was revealed. The European Commission is proposing that funding for the Common Agricultural Policy and Cohesion Policy is moderately reduced. Furthermore, Brussels wants to link funding to the rule of the law. The second of May is Flag Day in Poland. To mark the occasion, celebrations took place throughout the country. Like the one in Świnoujście, where a record large flag was hoisted onto a lighthouse and could be seen from several kilometers away. It was made by local residents.

Civic Platform and the Modern Party should run on a joint voting ticket in upcoming local elections, according to the newest poll from KANTAR Millward Brown for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24.

14 years have passed since the navy flag with gold stars was hoisted next to the red and white one. On the first of May 2004, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovenia, Cyprus and Malta joined the European Union. It was the largest ever expansion of the borders of the organisation.

Poland assumes the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the period of one month. The president of the council is responsible for setting the agenda, presiding over meetings, as well as crisis management. The main issues are set to be international law and peace and security in the world.

A fire ripped through a popular agritourism farm in Kruszyniany, in the northeast of Poland. The Tatarska Jurta was left in cinders after the night-time blaze. The fire broke out after everyone had already gone to bed, but luckily, no one was injured.

Once upon a time, there were processions with thousands and thousands of people. International Workers' Day was celebrated heavily during the communist times in Poland, with colorful parades and marches in the streets of the nation's cities. Today, it all looks a lot more modest as Labour Day is rather a relic of the past and a promotion of organisations connected with left-wing politics. Nevertheless, it's a tradition still cultivated and enjoyed, at least by some.

First of May. Protesters spent the Labour Day in the parliament building, marking their 14th day of protest. In front of the building demonstrators showed their support for the disabled and their caretakers. Meanwhile, there is still no agreement between the protesters and the government, which is slow to meet their demands. The caretakers of the disabled aren't losing hope.

"In my opinion, the government is trying to find a way out of the situation, but without acknowledging that protesters are in the right," said the Commissioner for Human Rights, Adam Bodnar. The guest of "Fakty po Faktach" commented on the protest of the disabled and their caretakers taking place in the parliament building. Mr Bodnar added that the people protesting in the Sejm, for many days now, have "triggered the society's imagination" regarding the problems that the disabled are facing every day.

The situation in LOT Airlines is now clear, at least for a moment. The general strike planned for 1 May was called off as the labour union represetatives have announced. The protest, however, is still possible at a later date. The unions will reveal further steps within two weeks, as they want to give the prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki more time to closely examine the situation in the Polish carrier.

The Central Bereau of Police Investigations has detained two men who, according to estimates, cheated the Polish treasury for over 80 million zloty on VAT fraud.

They have three months to collect one million zloty. And this is all to help their son stand on his own two legs. The parents of little Alan hope that he will be able to undergo an expensive surgery and then rehabilitation in the USA for his leg defects. If not, the boy could face amputation.

Thirteenth night of disabled and their caretakers' protest in the Sejm. They want to meet with the minister of family and social issues, but demand a serious offer on the table. Minister Rafalska wants to meet, however, no longer in the parliament building, but in the Dialogue Centre. The protesters say that once they leave the Sejm, they won't be let back inside.

Almost half of respondents would vote for the current president Andrzej Duda, according to a recent poll by KANTAR Millward Brown for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24. His biggest rival would be the president of the European Council, Donald Tusk for whom 24 percent of those asked would vote. The mayor of Słupsk, Robert Biedroń came third in the poll with 15-percent support. In a run-off of presidential elections, 53 percent of those surveyed would support Andrzej Duda, while 44 percent would vote for Donald Tusk.

Power of Nowogrodzka (PiS party headquarters - red.) does not reach to the court rooms of other constitutional tribunals in EU. Over there, Polish Constitutional Tribunal does not hold any weight - said in TVN24 "Fakty po Faktach" Andrzej Rzepliński, former chief of that court. In his opinion, after changes in law forced by PiS, Polish Constitutional Tribunal has significantly lost in meaning. He said, that in face of such actions of the ruling party, judges should resist, even if that means being walked out of courts in handcuffs. In the first part of the program Waldemar Buda (PiS) and Jan Grabiec (PO) argued about current sit-in of disabled children parents in Sejm.

A Polish team won amongst 526 submissions from all over the globe for the eVolo Skyscraper Competition. The authors of the winning project are Damian Granosik, Jakub Kulisa and Piotr Pańczyk. Skyshelter.zip is a concept of a skyscraper that could serve as a shelter for people from areas that are under threat of war or natural catastrophe. An origami inspired foldable skyscraper can be easily moved to and deployed in disaster zones.
