According to 59% of respondents, not granting Polish broadcasting licence to TVN24 would be a limitation of the freedom of speech in Poland. The opposite opinion was expressed by 29% of those asked in the latest Kantar poll for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24.
In a poll carried out by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 on September 9-11, the respondents were asked one following question: "In your opinion, would a lack of Polish licence for TVN24 be a limitation of the freedom of speech?".
More than half of the respondents (59%) said that it would, while 29% said it would not.
The answer "don't know/hard to say" was picked by 12% of those asked.
The phone survey for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 was conducted by Kantar on September 9-11, 2021, on a nationwide, representative sample of 1,002 people 18+.
The National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has not extended TVN24 broadcasting licence since early 2020. Most of the council members are against licence extension granting, arguing that TVN S.A. ownership structure stand in the way.
It stands in contrast with the KRRiT's practice and opinions by lawyers. In August, Dutch broadcasting regulator granted TVN24 its licence. TVN S.A., however, still expect a positive decision from the KRRiT.
