A woman from Jawor (Dolnośląskie province) notified the police that in the corridor of the tenement building she lived in, stood a wooden cage with a frightened monkey inside. It turned out that the animal had been stolen from a local mini zoo a few days before. Bubuś, as this was the macaque's name, has safely returned to its owner. The police are now looking for the monkey thief.
On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, a resident of Jawor notified the police about a wooden cage standing in the corridor at a tenement house in the city centre. Inside the cage, the woman said, was a monkey.
"When the officers arrived at the scene they saw a little frightened monkey inside a wooden, provisional cage. The duty officer found out that, most likely, the animal had been stolen a few days before from a mini zoo in Piotrówek, near Legnica," said Ewa Kluczyńska from Jawor police. She added that due the likelihood of a crime committed, a police forensic technician was called to the scene.
Bubuś returns home
The owner informed about her monkey being stolen at the mini zoo's Facebook profile. "(...) it's because of such degenerates someone's world has collapsed," the woman wrote.
Officers from Jawor notified the monkey's owner. "She came arrived immediately and recognised her animal. Thanks to a swift reaction by the tenement building resident, the macaque named Bubuś happily returned home with its caretaker," the policewoman said.
It's still unknown who stole the monkey and why. The police will be investigating.
