A man was talking a walk in a forest in Załęcze (Dolnośląskie province) when he saw a snake. He immediately notified proper authorities about this unusual encounter. It turned out that he met a boa constrictor.
Police officers from Góra (Dolnoślaśkie province) were called on Sunday to intervene in a forest in Załęcze. The man who called them had come across a snake. "A police patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene and the call was indeed confirmed. Everyone was quite surprised that a boa constrictor 'took a walk' in the forest," said a police press officer Ariel Bujak.
The officer secured the snake and called the Crisis Management Centre. "Until the animal finds a new home, or its owner is found, the boa has been placed under the care of a retired police officer, who runs a local pet shop. The local animal aficionado has created a temporary home for the snake," Bujak explained.
The police are trying to determine how the boa found itself in the area of Góra and Rawicz. They are looking for its owner. "Let's keep in mind that keeping exotic animals is governed by proper regulations. Furthermore, it's worth mentioning that animal owners are responsible for them and have a duty to not only provide appropriate living conditions for them, but also secure them properly from getting out. Keeping exotic animals should never be a whim, but a carefully thought-out decision," the officer added.
