"The worst thing is the children rarely see their dad, they are with virtually all of the time. But I'm sure that this separation will only strengthen our relation," Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska said in an interview for "Dzień Dobry TVN". She underscored she felt "wonderful" in Poland.
The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska gave an interview to "Dzień Dobry TVN" on Wednesday (October 5). "Now is the time of trial. Not only for our family. Nearly half of families in our country have been separated just like ours. We see each other very rarely. The worst thing is the children rarely see their dad, they are with virtually all of the time. But I'm sure that this separation will only strengthen our relation," she said.
Zelenska also said she and her husband were "a match". "We are lucky. I'm lucky to have him and I hope he is happy with me," she added.
"I worked many years in a studio under his management. Now, you could say I'm working under his command. And I consult all my efforts with him. Sometimes it's easier for me, because we look in the same direction. They say that a perfect couple is not that look at each other, but that which looks in the same direction," Ukraine's First Lady said.
In her opinion, "this is simply destiny". "I don't consider us a perfect couple because we fight sometimes, however not for too long. I hope everything will be all right. The crucial thing is for us to win," Zelenska stressed.
Zelenska: Poland's support has been incredible
The First Lady of Ukraine also said she felt "wonderful" in Poland. "Being here I'm constantly occupied with thanking. Even looking at raw data, Poland's support has been incredible. You are standing next to the USA and UK, although your countries' potentials are incomparable. You've done something incredible here," she said.
"We remember the first days and months when Poles opened their doors to us. I really appreciate this support and this sincere support. I'm sure that our people, our refugees, are also grateful," Zelenska added.
"Knight of Freedom" award
On Tuesday (October 4), Olena Zelenska, was awarded the "Knight of Freedom" award at the Warsaw Security Forum in Poland.
The international award is conferred annually to "outstanding figures". Last year's recipient was the jailed Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny.
