A group of people splashed red paint at the gates of the Russian Embassy in Warsaw on Monday. The incident spurred police intervention.

"The walled entrance with a plaque informing that it's the seat of the Russian Embassy has been splashed with red paint. A number of police cars have arrived at the scene. Also present are police technicians who are securing evidence," said reporter Artur Węgrzynowicz who was at the scene of the incident.

The information about the incident was confirmed by Warsaw Metropolitan Police. "A few men have splashed paint over a building being part of the Russian Embassy. The police officers carried out an intervention. Further proceedings will depend on a possible notification," said Gabriela Putyra of Warsaw Metropolitan Police.

According to portal coverage published on social media, a small group of people gathered in front of the embassy. They held a banner saying "Away with fascism" and set up photographs in front of the gate, showing the scale of destruction and tragedy of victims of war caused by Russia in Ukraine.

At one point, three men took bottles with paint out of their pockets and emptied them on a fragment of the walled entrance. A small scuffle broke out between one of the men and the police officers.

The men also placed a Russian flag on the ground and splashed it with red paint.
