The cabinet reshuffle will take place next week; President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki discussed potential candidates for new ministers; the president has put forward his own candidates - said president Duda's spokesperson Błażej Spychalski.

One of the reasons for the upcoming reconstruction of the government is the fact that some of the current ministers have won seats in the European Parliament.

"The reshuffle will take place next week. During the meeting, potential candidates were discussed. Obviously, the president has put forward his candidates," said Spychalski after Thursdays's meeting between the president and the prime minister.

Five current ministers have won seats in the European Parliament: deputy PM Beata Szydło, interior minister Joachim Brudziński, family, labour and social affairs minister Elżbieta Rafalska, education minister Anna Zalewska and government's spokesperson Joanna Kopcińska.

"The reshuffle will rather broad because many people will soon become MEPs," said Spychalski.

Asked if the changes in the government will be limited only to ministers who will leave for Brussels, he replied: "when the time comes, the prime minister will present the final list of proposed changes to the president and, obviously, they will discuss this issue".

Asked if the cabinet reshuffle is possible to take place on the 4th of June, Spychalski answered that it will take place "definitely next week". "Next week, but no exact date has been scheduled," he added.
