As the MSWiA informed, "the ALFA alert will be in effect from Wednesday August 28, 2019 (from 00:01) until Tuesday, September 3, 2019 (until 23:59)".

The interior ministry also said that the introduction of the ALFA alert is a preventive measure connected with the 80th anniversary of WWII outbreak commemorations and the official visit of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"Similar security measures were taken also during other international events hosted by Poland, such as the Middle East security summit, COP24 climate summit in Katowice and the World Youth Day in Kraków," the ministry informed.

The ALFA alert is the lowest of the four alerts mentioned in the law on anti-terrorist operations. It's mainly meant to serve as a caution for the security services, as well as the whole administration to remain particularly vigilant.

Following the introduction of the ALFA level, public authorities will be obliged to carry out checks of public places and large population centres. They will have to send information to appropriate services on cases of suspicious packages and cars or about suspiciously behaving individuals. Government institutions will also be obliged to check their alert systems and evacuation routes and their capacity, review procedures related to the introduction of higher levels of alert.

The CRP alerts pertain to cyberspace danger prevention.

On September 1, during observances of the 80th anniversary of the WWII outbreak, at the Piłsudski Square in Warsaw, three presidents will give speeches: Poland's Andrzej Duda, Germany's Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the United States' Donald Trump.

On September 2, Trump will also talk face-to-face with President Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
